I tell you guys time and time again that the heart of my photography passion is capturing sweet moments for my friends as well as family. Nikki has been a friend of mine going on 17 years now. We started playing soccer together at a young age and always seemed to just click. Nikki and I attended the same high school which led to the same college. Both of us received our criminal justice degrees, but she actually used it! Going on four years now, she is a police officer. Which, I would have never guessed that career path for her, but she took the job and ran with it. I was surprised to hear she was an officer not because she's girl or because she's smaller in stature, but because she has such a fun, bubbly personality that I couldn't imagine her tackling dirt-bag drug dealers and busting teens for public intoxication. However, if you listen to her talk about her job for five minutes, you'll understand how passionate she is about serving her community. To me, that is such an amazing gift especially at a time where the community may not appreciate her as much as they should.
Her fiancé Elliot is essentially the ying to her yang. Their differences (like the fact that he's a firefighter and she's a police officer) compliment each other and their similarities thrive. I should have known when it was HIS suggestion to head to the Garden Glow after an initial session at Forest Park that I was in for a great time. Who wouldn't want to be followed around a gorgeous garden with a million lights and have their photo taken?! It was a breath of fresh air to break out of the norm.
Elliot and Nikki, I am SO honored to be a part of your big day and to watch your super goofy, giggley, fun love grow!
